KaysCasa is designed keeping in mind the location of Goa and incorporating a contemporary Portuguese-Goan theme into the design. The villa has lush green gardens with a plunge pool and is part of a gated community, which is adjacent to the Baga creek. The gated community has a large swimming pool and a club house and expansive landscaped spaces.
The villa is in 3 levels, with the ground floor encompassing the living, dining and kitchen areas. There is a patio with a plunge pool as well as a dining pavilion surrounded by greenery. Keeping this in mind, we decided to go for a country house theme with warm oak wood and black with industrial lights. The ceiling is lined with rafters and a large wine oak and wrought iron chandelier adds character to the space. Considering the goan themed tiles in warm tones of blue and yellow, we decided to keep the furnishings in muted shades of grey and beige in sync with the oak wood and black theme. The highlight of the space is a large wall with Azelujos painting in blue and white, highlighting the Portuguese influence in design in Goa. This particular painting has 16 x 8 pieces of tiles that are hand painted and puzzled together to recreate the sail boats on high seas; the inspiration coming from the Caravels of 15th century portugal.

The highlight of the ground floor is the patio with the plunge pool. The laterite walls around the pool and the warm tones of the tiles on the patio, add a lot of character to the space. This is contrasted with our decision to add a Goan Balcao in ochre yellow, to the space, allowing us to imagine a lazy afternoon in the pool and the balcao alternately.

The cozy dining pavilion next to the dining space, adds another element of relaxation to the home. With a cozy table for 2 in acacia wood, it rendered itself to a morning breakfast or an afternoon tea amidst the greenery of the garden.

The first floor has a large master bedroom with a balcony canopied by trees as well as a smaller bedroom with a sundeck. The master bedroom is designed in blue, reflecting another key color in the Goan-Portuguese design. It is complimented with oak themed wooden furniture that includes an end-to-end headboard and bed side tables, a TV alcove as well as a super large study table and of course wardrobes. This is completed with blue and white furnishings as well as stainless steel and blown glass lighting. The tiles in cool tones of grey, white and blue, add a sense of clam to the room. The balcony is canopied by large trees and the red tiles combined with acacia wooden outdoor furniture offer warm tones, allowing one to read a book, chat with family or simply daydream.

The smaller bedroom has a highlight wall in brick red, another very Goan-Portuguese color. This is complemented with furniture in grey as well as furnishings in shades of grey and brick red. A large bay window overlooking the Baga creek, allows for a lot of sunlight to shine in. The bay window allowed us to create a nice seating space to enjoy the sunshine as well as leisure activities. The larger window leads one to the sundeck, best enjoyed as a sundowner location, a large outdoor table with chairs offering both warmth and comfort.

The second floor of the villa has a large master bedroom with a balcony as well as a large terrace area. We decided to go with another very predominant color in Goan-Portuguese design, the color yellow or rather ochre as the main color. This is well supported by warm toned tiles in yellow and blue. In addition, the furniture in the room is handmade rolled furniture in walnut tone, with a 4-poster bed, a large sofa/day bed as well as a large study table and wardrobes. The furnishing in ochre and orange add brightness to the room. The fitting are in golden yellow with lights based in ribbed handmade glass, lending depth to the room. Rafters in walnut brown on the high roof giving an immense feeling of space. A super large bathroom with a bathtub, shower cubicle as well as end to end mirror bring an element of luxury.
